Camping in Buena Vista (PICS)

Had a great weekend this past weekend. Jessica and I headed up to Trout Creek Road for camping. We were not able to get to our normal spot however. The road is normally open April 15 - December 1. This year it was closed early (NOV 16) due to snow creating large problems with mud on the road. No problem the first quick to get to section of trees is open year round, it's all good! Too close to the road for our linking but camping is awesome and no one else was out there! It did get a bit on the cold side (single digits overnight) and was only 17 when we woke up at 6:15. Did some hiking, campfire, etc. wish we could have stayed longer. We had our snowshoes in search of a great hike, just ran out of time before we got to it!

I have not slept in a tent I found "toasty" in winter. My sister has a nice Kelty 4 season... still... not toasty.. a lot better than a non 4 season... but not toasty LOL

Well, I'm used to my 3 season in the winter.... The 4 season was a new addition about 13 months ago. We actually use it year round because of it's size, unless we're on the bike. Nice 3 person. My 3 season is a TIGHT 2 person. Doesn't work cause the dogs have taken to sleeping in the tent with us as they've gotten older.

BV does have some awesome spots. They get enough snow to have some good snowshoeing too straight from camp. I've only stayed in 4 mile OHV but there has got to be tons of stuff out there.

4 mile is Closed for the season right now (Depending on what part of course). Yeah Jess and I had our Snowshoes in the Rover with a book and maps. Just didn't get there.

great trip it sounds like and great pics. for some reason Sarah and I seem to do more camping in snow than summer.
