Any tips on cleaning a camera and lenses? My digital SLR has taken a lot of abuse and I'd like to clean it up, probably best to have a pro do it inside & out but will listen to opinions. :thunb:

If it is a digital. He just clean ours before our trip. If it isn't Rocky Mountain Camers Repair if they are still around. They used to do all of my Nikons when I was more into photography.

For the DIYer.

ROR - Residual Oil Remover

One of the best optical cleaners available.

http://www.ror.net

Also available is Eclipse from Photographic Solutions.

They also have cleaning pads which will not scratch sensitive optics. PEC PADS work great.

For cleaning inside it depends on camera. Photographic Solutions also has what they call Sensor Swabs which you can put their Eclipse cleaner on to clean a sensor. And then there is this guy:

It's awesome for removing loose dirt from parts without damaging a sensor.

Whatever you do don't use any aerosol based cleaning product on a digital camera.

For the DIYer with money to burn there is this guy:

My camera needs cleaning also. It's a Sony Cybershot DSC-W290 and it shows two specs in most photos when zoomed in past certain point. Any idea what it runs to get it done professionally? I suppose I should just call up a place since I've already tried blowing it out...
