As I was coming home from my friends house just now, I passed a WRX on the side of the road, at the Sante Fe exit from I25. Not exactly the place you want to be stranded, since there is no shoulder right there. I went up, around, and back to see what was up. Turns out he ran out of gas, so I helped push his car up further to where there was a shoulder, so he could get the car off the road somewhat.

He was rather scared, as where his car pooped out was just as you crest the hill on the double lane exit there. So the cars coming up didn't have much time to react before seeing him. I must say, I'm rather tired now after pushing his car a few hundred feet. I offered to push with the Brat, but he didn't feel comfortable doing that.

But at least he is now out of the way, and awaiting some family to bring a gas can for him. Definitely need to add a gas can to the list of things to get for the Brat, for the just in case scenario! There were a few times I looked back, and thought the 2nd or 3rd car in the line was going to nail the Brat while it was sitting there.

Always good to add to the road karma/trail karma stash by helping someone out. Cars never seem to break down or run out of gas in a convenient spot...

Speaking of running out of gas, how long is gas good sitting in a can w/o Stabil or something along that line? I just found I have 2 -5 gallon cans full from the Fall. Sure would like to use that stuff!

I think it depends on what it is going in. I don't have a problem dumping a few gallons of 6 month old gas into a car with some new gas. But I'm not going to fill the bike up with 6 month old gas, because it won't dilute enough with new stuff.
