View Full Version : Rusty's Body lift

Since Rob hasn't posted or put up pictures, I'll start.
The past 2 days Rob and I have been installing his new 3" body lift.
Turned out being alot more tedious of a job than the one on my yota just because there was a lot of junk bolted to the inner fenders that needs to be relocated a bit.
All in all everything has gone pretty smooth.
The only problem we've run into is the stupid warehouse worker who put the kit together threw in one oddball bolt that won't fit anywhere. Now to find a 7 1/2 " Metric fine thread bolt to finish up.
The Pathy now sits 3 mighty inches taller, and should be buttoned up by tomorrow.:wrench::D

Sorry guys been real busy with everything, and luckily I just got off work early today. I still have numerous things to "button up" a few screws here and there, CR actually is getting his sister to get the bolt from a metric place in Denver which was awesome of him and also with helping me. Apparently not too many places at all carries that bolt so. That and the hose from my AI Valve has to be lengthened. Hopefully she'll be done tonight but if not oh well tommorow. Sorry no before pics but it did get a true 3 inch lift so, yeah , cool, k bye.

What's next? Fender chop and tires?

Rusty

Exactamungo!!!!!! The sooner the better, turns out I lied, my uncle pointed out that my rims were 15x6 not 15x8 that I had thought they were, some how I saw an 8 oh yeah brake dust. So now I have to get rims too making a used set with matching rims a better deal right now. That or just grab some cheaper crawlers, might even stick with a thinner tire like the 10.5's I have now but I have a lot of space to fill.

hehee.......I think he might have meant "how did you end up lifting the vehicle to install the body mounts".

There are at least 4 or 5 sets of 33" tires with rims up for sale on Colorado 4x4. I know there is at least once set of 6x5.5 lug, so that should cover you. I've also noticed a couple on COTTORRA up for sale with stock Toyota rims. I have an extra set of toyota rims in the garage that came with my rig too, but I've been thinking about making beadlocks out of them, so I think I'll hold onto them for now. You could at least borrow them for a while if you can't afford to buy rims for a bit. They aren't pretty and have some rock rash and paint scrapes, but would do you fine.

nope I win.

I wondered that too, but figured it was rob, and took the gamble to make fun of him. It paid off.

Yep. Two points. Notice the "Old Rob" in the top right corner of my posts? It was an age-related mistake (and possibly because of attention deficit).

ok a little update. The truck STILL HASNT MOVED, since i took the battery out last saturday. We finally got the bolt and the shifter taken care of and now the steering shaft isnt long enough. The kit came with these square brackets that im still trying to figure out what their for. The directions were less than vague, this kit blows and I still cant drive

Final update, my uncle aka the master tech came over, stood on my spare (he's a 5'3" hispanic) then had the brilliant idea of extending the coupler above the shaft with some thick washers and now im finally driving again AFTER A WEEK. Tonight im going down to brighton to check out a set of 33x12.5x15 pro comp m/t and a bfg a/t spare he wants $350 for them all, we'll see if I have new(er) tires by tonight. FINALLY DRIVING!!!!!

The sliver colored ones are crush blocks that go under the rear floor just for added support (not like they really do much though) and the other one looks like it is a rag joint spacer for the steering extension. Hope this helps.
