I had an interview today. The position would pay enough to leave my current job early before they close the doors, even though I wouldn't get my severance. The severance would be nice, but it would be better to have a job than not and still be looking once they close. Of course the ideal situation would be to find something shortly after they close, and get to keep the severance. I could get a new toy or two for the truck. But beggars can't be choosers.

Anyway...if it does happen, then I might be able to make it to the Anniversary run, and I will definitely make it to Moab again this year!

The interview seemed okay, but I'm a horrible judge at how well those things go and I am not the greatest at them in the first place.

Good luck Andrew! As nice as it would be to get the severance then find a job you are doing the right thing by being proactive about it. Best of luck my friend!

Well that didn't work. Didn't get it.

Apparently they value pieces of paper over knowledge. So if I want a similar job with them I need to be certified in documented common sense, basically. Doesn't matter that I do all the crap covered by it already and have for years.

Try being almost 60 and looking for a job with a lot of experience in many things, 2 degrees, yada, yada, yada...out of 200-300 applications out in all sorts of different fields, I have had two actual face to face interviews...And I am in a position where my retirement literally went up in smoke when the Greenwood Village mansion burned, so I am trying to reacquire my retirement fund. Nothing like a little depression to sooth the nerves...

Too bad I am not simply manic depressive. If I was, at least I would know that I wouldn't be feeling down too long..:D

I was really hoping that you would get this...sorry to hear that it didn't work out...
