Let's get a little more help for Molly here, people! She is in a world of hurt and could use some help. These stickers look good, the money is certainly going to a good cause, and you are showing support for both a fellow wheeler and an extremely good individual.
I got one on my heap and everyone knows how short on $$ I am...Let's step up to the plate a little here...
As many of you know Molly (aka Lysmachia) is trying to raise money to be able to take a trip to the Mayo Clinic and we thought we could speed the process up with a little fundraiser. www.toycrawlers.com (http://www.toycrawlers.com/) has designed a sticker on behalf of Molly which you can purchase for $5.00 each. To purchase, you can do pay-pal molly(dot)houck(@)gmail(dot)com OR send a check directly to molly. (PM for addy) She has a bank account specifically for her medical bills, and if you want/need to see where the $$ is going, Molly will gladly show you!
Here is the sticker:

And here it is on a rig! (Cut out too)

It took a while for me to get mine. I just forgot about it until i saw a envelope from someone I didn't know in the mail.
I figured worse comes to worse....I donated some money to help out a fellow wheeler....Best case scenario I get a sticker outta the deal.

I'll be sending something your way soon.
My family has a lot of history with the Mayo Clinic, and if they can't do something for you, there is a pretty good chance no one will. My Grandfather was the head of General Surgery there during World War II, and did a couple of major surgeries on FDR. More recently my dad has been going there for a few issues that no one else could solve. Its a really rare disorder, I think less then 30 people have it nationwide or something, and most don't last more then 5-10 years once the symptoms really set in (liver and intestinal problems), and my dad has been going on 35 years or so since the symptoms came to a peak. Part of it is his great attitude, but a large part of it is the Mayo Clinic and all they have done for him. They did a Colostomy when he was round 30 years old. More recently he has had liver failure issues, with the most serious part being that his bile ducts close up and don't let bile though, and it goes places its not supposed to. They did all kinds of stuff to him, but the big one is they ran little tubes down through the bile ducts to force them open more. It was really tenuous for a while, and he isn't out of the woods, but it went from us being really really worried and him going to the Mayo Clinic every other month to get tests done, to him now only going 3 times a year or less, and many of his issues have drastically reduced. He was really excited after the last trip, since they finally gave him the go ahead to travel a bit. He was so excited that he bought tickets to Hawaii as soon as he got home and was sitting on a beach two days later.
I hope you find what you are looking for there. Like I said, I'll be sending you some funds in the next couple days. Cool sticker too.

I have to exhaust the Swedish Medical Dr's suggestion which is to see a psychiatrist about pseudo-seizures (which are very real seizures but triggered by some kind of trauma). Because if I don't do due diligence, insurance won't cover me going to the Mayo Clinic.... (and even then my insurance sucks and I have huge co-pays for every little test)
But you are right, attitude is very important, and I am drying my darnedest to keep a smile on my face :D

I can tell, and that is awesome. One thing my dad did, was get a local physician (at the CU Medical School) who also specializes in his issue to act as his local doctor, and managed to get him to sign off on going to the Mayo Clinic. Medicare pays for part of it, but my dad went to battle with the insurance people over this. Claims he knows more about insurance then he ever cares to now, and the more he looks into it more evil he thinks those companies are. Keep up the good attitude:thunb:.

I've been having seizures all week (since Monday) :( Oh and more info: I keep a journal of what I eat, exercises, stresses, and then when I have the seizures. Nothing seems conclusive. I've had full blood work and I have very low sodium and vitamin D (I am on supplements for that) And I had my thyroid checked too. I have not had enough Trauma in my life IMHO nothing like PTSD to trigger a pseudo-seizure (again IMHO). Do any of you have a recommendation for a psychiatrist? It is so hard to get one that is taking new patients, let alone one who specializes in pseudo-seizures.

Sorry, I don't know any psychiatrists that do that stuff. That said, not sure if you are a dog person, but if you are, have you considered getting a seizure detecting dog or seeing if one of the dogs you already own is trainable for it? I've seen some pretty amazing dogs that are able to detect the onset of a seizure well in advance of it happening. Not only would it be a comfort to you, but it might help diagnose it. I'm no expert, but its just a thought.

Funny you ask, as I JUST posted pictures of my boxer Layla in the pet thread http://www.frontrange4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?8919-Pet-Thread!&p=93690#post93690
Sometimes she acts weird before I have a seizure, but she isn't consistent. I would very much love to have a seizure dog though! But I am not sure if they work for non epileptic seizures (meaning non electrical) since I think these are brain chemical based (sort of like Parkinson's or MS)

Here is an article from a Neurology Journal about Seizure Response dogs and Psuedoseizures....
http://www.deltasociety.org/Document.Doc?id=128
There is a lot of skepticism online about whether dogs are actually all that good at detecting seizures. There are actually a few cases where dogs have been a trigger for psychogenic seizures in people who usually have epileptic seizures. Regardless, they are largely found to be helpful, and even if they don't provide reliable detection, as a companion its certainly a benefit. Plus, you get to bring your dog with you everywhere you go. Met a lady at the dog park who had MS, and had the biggest Golden Retriever I have ever seen (came up to her hip). Evidently he went pretty much everywhere with her, including plane rides and such.
Reading some of the stuff on Psychogenic seizures definitely enlightens me to how frustrating this must be for you. Its really awesome that you can have a great attitude about it and seem like you really want to get it figured out. Hope you get the answers you are looking for.

Interesting link. Until I get a diagnosis, I can't be a candidate for a seizure dog anyway....

Which came first the chicken or the Social Security Egg? (Molly needs love)
I'm needing a little love right now. I am about at the end of my rope (well not literally). You know that get to it attitude I keep trying to have? It isn't working well this week. In order to get the right paperwork for medical financial assistance (Aid to the Needy or Disabled) I need to see Dr's that are out of network. One Psychiatrist that was actually available at the END of June is $200 an hour. I am having a devil of a time finding a psychiatrist or psychologist that is even taking patients and who can squeeze me in for just a session or two so we can look at conversion disorder or pseudoseizures as a cause of my seizures. I spend 4 hours a day (while not seizing) on the phone with Dr's, Medical Billing, Social Security and Weld County assistance. It's like getting Disability has become my Job.
I am NOT asking for money. I am asking for a hug. Troy is so frustrated right now and I can understand why. When these seizures hit it's like having an invalid for 4 days. On Wednesday afternoon while planting plants and I had Layla (dog) tethered to a post in the front yard. The seizure I had Wed afternoon came on so strong and so fast (I rated it a 9 out of 10 in severity) I have no idea how I got upstairs. I have no memory of it at all. All I know is that when Troy got Home Layla was gone and Troy was upset. She had her harness on so it isn't like she wriggled out of her collar. Either I unclipped her and was too spazzy to make sure she made it into the house or a neighborhood kid did. Thankfully Layla came home not 10 minutes later.
I understand Troy's frustration.... but this is really a lot for him (He didn;t sign up for this right?) I'm scared too. What if I leave the oven on? Or run a bath and then have a seizure and water runs everywhere - already had that happen once) What if I fall and hit my head? So far all of my hospital visits have only given my a sort of clinical diagnosis.... of non-epileptic seizures.
I just needed to vent. I'm scared, and getting a little despondent that I won't get the Disability I need to pay for the medical care I need to figure this out. (Yes, next stop Mayo..... but I have to show my insurance I have exhausted all local possibilities first.) Though I did find out yesterday that they re-opened my case at Social Security which is a good thing... I just don't know how long it will take to come through...
Thanks for reading. You guys are the best. -Molly

If any of you know of a psychiatrist or psychologist that is taking patients, PM me. I really need one that deals with conversion disorder AKA psudoseizures.... And since I can't drive, a ride to said DR. might be in order (if you are in the Longmont area.)
Again thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers!
