Started out horrible. Got better, but never really got good. I'm sure they made a killing on it.....

What was the halftime show? I'm guessing there was no undressing of said performers...?

Are you kidding? While it may not have been The Who of old, it was one of the better Super Bowl half time shows I've seen. I will admit I was very impressed with the lighting/video design and paid more attention to that then the singing though. It was a bit too Montage like for my taste as far as the music went.

Well at least I now know what game, what half time, and who played...obviously I didn't miss too much...game or group...About the only people my age that can still rock are the Stones and even they are getting hard pressed to do the rock and roll bit these days.

Only song the Who ever did that was actually worth something was Magic Bus from Live at Leeds...not something I ever felt I needed to gag my way through "Tommy" in hopes that they would ever play it..low on the list of bands I ever wanted to see in concert...

Peter Townsend has done a few decent things, but mainly because of the stellar harmonica player he plays with sometimes.

What's more depressing is all the old songs being used to sell products on TV. Talkin' bout m-m-m-my Metamucil.

Amen...you know that you have a few years behind you when you hear a hard rock song butchered into MUSAK on an elevator, too..

That was funny, Rob!:fing:

Half time was when I went to the grocery store to get the stuff I forgot on the last trip.

My :princess: watched, she said they looked like they were missing their old band mates. That made sense to me, we watched them perform in 1997. We were close enough to see the interaction on stage. We could see how they worked and played together. It probably was sad, I didn't watch.

I would hope that Magic Bus takes a back seat to 'Won't get Fooled Again"* and 'Baba O'Riley'. However, I know that many agree with you.

It's a travesty that parts of that* song are now part of CSI TV intro.

Heh...I think they played every song used for a CSI intro lol.

The lighting was very cool though.

I had a chance to see them when they were first making the rounds in the US but refused to pat $5 to see them and sat outside to listen. Never had a great yen to see them in later years either.

When we met at the designated place, we were informed the band was stacked over DIA for several hours and some were feeling off. The planned reception was looking doubtful.

The grumpy ol' fawkers saw us anyway! They put on a cheerful face and made the time for us, while putting everyone at ease. Then, they went out and played Quadrophenia.

They remembered who put them on stage, and made the effort to give everyone a good show. Suffice to say, I had a great time. :)

X2. He's just way too cool for his sunglasses. And he seems to have a really bad crick in his neck. Can't lift his head up straight to save his life. A show you ought to check out is "Burn Notice." My wife, the lovely and sweet nearly 60-year-old Jersey girl, secretly wants to be Fiona. Twelve years and I never knew she wanted to carry around serious firepower and blow up stuff.

I was reading in the replies to see if anybody picked up on the fact that Pete Townsends right-side pocket of his jacket kept getting in the way of his picking. Every time he tried to do his "helicopter" style of strumming the strings, his jacket kept getting in the way. I was thinking, Janet should see this. Now that is a wardrobe malfunction.

He didn't smash his guitar. A lot of people lost money on that bet.
