My son went to the public library yesturday and came home the the Guinness world record book.
Gonzalo Bravo & Eduardo Canales drove to an altitude of 21942 ft in 1986 modified Suzuki Samurai making it the world record for the highest altitude reached by a car.

Im guessing it's probably somewhere South America. Judging by their names, and the fact the highest peak on S.A. is Aconcagua, Argentina: 22,834 feet / 6960 meters

That's probably the only mountain that high you could drive up.
