I'm trying to see what the conditions are on Kingston Peak/Yankee hill area and also the Barbour Fork area.
Thanks
P.S. just saw this pic on traildamage and thought it was cool (and good publicity) http://www.traildamage.com/trails/photo_pop.php?d=barbour_fork/081115&t=Stay%20The%20Trail&f=stay_the_trail.jpg

You may have to call the FS in Idaho Springs for information on Barbour Forks. It may or may not be open, but does have a seasonal gate closure. My guess is that it isn't open yet.
Last I heard, you can expect Kingston Peak to not be open all the way through and quite a bit of snow on the Yankee Hill area.

Barbour Fork is closed, Kingston Peak on the Rollinsville side was totally snowed in a few weeks ago and I have no idea about Yankee Hill.

I am curious about Yankee hill. Was thinking of going up there tomorrow afternoon to see if I have any rubbing issues.

Forget about Kingston Peak until mid to late June unless you don't plan on going all the way across. There is a big snow drift that forms on the Apex side that I've rolled the dice on as late as 4th of July weekend. There's a good chance I'll be going up to Pickle Gulch this week, so I'll post up on what I find.

Kingston has been clocsed at late as early August too... (Kind of like Webster Pass) Just best to check with the Gilpin and Clear Creek County ranger districts. Usually someone will post on Colo4x4.org once it is open (in terms of snow) - that's about the only reason I ever use that site.
And way to catch that bonehead who went off trail. :thunb:
