Got this thing. I stumbled upon it, and I've been wanting something like this for awhile, so I bit the bullet and bought it. I was $635 marked down to $298. I've wanted to have some kind of a camera setup on a bumper or the like for wheeling. Possibly set up multiple mounts hidden on the vehicle, so I can just move the camera and get a different perspective. I think it'd be pretty cool to have a camera about midship on the undercarriage going up over an obstacle. Plus, I can use this thing on the motorcycle, bicycle, and cars/trucks.

I thought about the GoPro, but I wanted something a bit more compact on the outside, while being able to see what I'm shooting on the inside of the vehicle. Also, I didn't want to have to crawl under the vehicle to turn the camera on/off if I have it mounted down there.

Is it waterproof?

To my knowledge, yes.

I've seen those at bike shops and thought the same thing... How cool it would be to put it in/on the truck and do some wheeling. Would make for a great video for sure...

I have one of these for my camcorder,

I've only used it once so far, but it stuck pretty well. Just have to aim the camera more carefully next time.

There's a lot of these rock camera set ups on the FJ Forum, some are very elaborate and very expensive. The coolest one I have seen to date is: http://www.wikidfj.com/camerabuild.html he started off with a $79 camera set up and it turned into that, ripping out his headliner and building a custom 4 monitor unit above the visors. Here's the write up on IH8MUD: http://forum.ih8mud.com/fj-cruiser/276920-baja-camera-system-custom-install.html

This is a recent one that shows some promise to keeping it on the relatively cheap side:

Hijack: Jason, this has good pics of the FJC w/o the headliner so you can see what's under there.

Double hijack: Who is Jason and why does he want to know what's under there? Just curious!

He is Blue Moon Mobile and a pretty cool guy. He wants to know because he is going to put either a two 17x35 (I think) or two 17 x24 side by side sunroofs in it. Sean an I are maybe going to do this for him and we needed an idea of where the actual support piece for the roof falls to see what was feasible.

You should put it behind your grill (if there's room for the lens to have a good view)
