Can someone explain this?

Search google maps for 'Stone City, CO'. Move 8000ft NW from the marker. Zoom to where the scale bar has the value of 500 ft. Locate 6-pointed star in circle. The feature is about 100m across.

What is this?

No theories on this?

I just checked TerraServer and the same feature is on their imagery. Seems strange.

That is actually a star of David, with or without circle. A pentagram without the circle is used to summon the devil or one of his dominions, supposedly by putting a lit candle on each point and standing in the center, then reciting the Lord's prayer backwards. Do I want to try this one to see if it works? Nope...

On the other hand, a pentagram with a circle, with an unbroken line of salt outlining the circle, is supposed to protect you from the aforementioned devil and friends...

I did a search this AM to see what came up in relation to the star as well as other anomalies from google earth. What a gaggle of weirdness...theories range from synagogues to bombing target sites, but I couldn't find any good answers. And there are obviously a lot of very strange folks that peruse Google Earth with all sorts of odd theories....UFOs artifacts on Google Earth. strange underwater critters, strategic targets marked with strange symbols, etc. etc. Interesting reading, some of it, but a lot of very strange weirdness from all over the world, too...

I wonder how many other military installations have a star like that on them?

The weird part about this feature is that it's in no-man's land. It's about 20 miles from the main post area and doesn't appear to support maneuver site infrastructure. Also, there appears to be towers around it They don't seem to have the correct aspect for a satellite photo.

Some speculation here:

The mock SA-2 SAM site makes a lot of sense. That's how many SA-2 sites were/are set up by hostile countries. It provides direct-line access to and from launchers from other positions.

A similarly shaped SAM site shows up on virtualglobetrotting: http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/armed-hq-2-sa-2-missile-site/view/?service=0

Makes sense, but no roads lead out to it which is odd.

Well, it's a mock SAM site. We are, most likely, using it as a target for our artillery, MLRS, etc. I'd be willing to bet that the "towers" have some kind of emitter on them and serve the purpose of simulating the emitters on launch and radar vehicles. And unless one of those towers take a direct hit, there's not really any need to drive out there to set up another emitter, which might explaing why there are no roads leading to it. Also, we don't know how often they use it. Nowadays, we aren't facing an enemy with a cache of large vehicle mounted SAMs, so we probably don't practice on these sites as much anymore.
