Pierson Park-Nov 2 Report

Jim, Mike, and I met up in Estes at 9:30 and headed to Pierson. There was no snow in Estes but shortly after hitting the trail we encountered a bit of snow. Trail has definitely been restored in the slide area and one could run it end to end under the right conditions. Unfortunately it wasn't quite the right conditions for us. As we approached the South end the snow got deeper and slippery. We turned around. I even side down one hill with my wheels turning on the way back.

Mike headed out to RMNP while Jim and I did a quick run of Pole Hill. Conditions there were good.

No pics or tracks. Was feeling lazy.

After Pole Hill I took a drive through downtown Estes - significant change. The downtown strip is three lanes of one-way. Two lanes dedicated left turn at the western intersection with the right lane a straight through lane. The two left turn lanes, heading to the park, go up and over the hill and where the road would turn right there is a roundabout. At the roundabout is the split for the eastbound traffic - two lanes along the river to the other major downtown intersection (by the Subway / DQ).

Did you see any more smoke near Estes?

I searched and the prescribed burn was at the Beaver Meadows visitors center fri and sat. 300+ acres.
That could be about where we saw the smoke from pole hill.

No, I didn't see any more smoke - and I noticed, on the drive into estes (across the lake area), looking to my left and NOT seeing any smoke.
